After breakfast, we gather to depart at 08:30 by foot with our tour guide. We start at the Plaza de Armas (main plaza) of Cusco and make our way to the San Pedro market where we come into contact with the tastes, colors and typical aromas of the Andes. We then take a private car to visit the Inca ruins in the surroundings of the city: Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay. Afterwards we drive to Pisac, famous for its colorful artisan crafts market and archeological complex, a demonstration of Inca architecture of large walls and towers, all made with polished blocks of stone cut to fit together tightly without mortar. Arrival in Urubamba, some rest time and then we have the briefing and presentation for the rest of the trip given by a member of the PeruEtico team. Night at the hotel.
Today, with our tour guide and private transport, we course through the mythical "Sacred Valley of the Incas" to discover one of the most beautiful and magical places in Peru. We visit Moray, ancient and wonderful biological lab of the Incas; Maras, impressive salt mines embedded in a beautiful landscape, which have been in operation for over 1000 years; and Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that is still inhabited today and is an extraordinary model of urban planning. In the afternoon we ride the train to Aguas Calientes to begin our Machu Picchu adventure. Night at the hotel.
Free day to walk around the beautiful city of Cusco. Some must-see sites that we recommend: The Cathedral at the Plaza de Armas; MAP (Museum of Pre-Columbian Art); Qoricancha - The Temple of the Sun; and the quaint neighborhood of San Blas. In the evening we go on a cultural and alternative walking tour. Strolling under the stars through the historic center of the city, we discover a less-known side of Cusco: myths, legends, tales, ghosts and saints. A unique experience to see the true Cusco, iconic city of Peru. Night at the hotel.
After breakfast, at 07:30 we go to the port to embark on a boat for a tour on Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake. We'll visit the floating islands of the Uros located north of the Puno bay, followed by a stop at Taquile, the lake's largest island. We disembark on the north part of the island and from there we make our way to Huayllano. The families of Huayllano lead us in our discovery of the uses, customs and ancient traditions of the island. A native family will host us and, as their guests, we are invited to wear their typical attire and live like a member of the community for one night. Dinner and night stay with our host family.
After breakfast we explore the bay, the beach and a few archeological sites. Walk to the village of Taquile where we enjoy lunch, and then descend to the port to get back to Puno with an estimated arrival at 18:00. Night in Puno.
