We like good cuisine, that's for sure... would you like to discover a country through its food? If the answer is YES, then Peru and this gastronomic tour will leave you fully satisfied. In Peru you can eat delicious food, this country is a true gastronomic paradise: vibrant flavors, Asian and European influence that mix with local, top quality ingredients. We discover places only known to locals, places that are true hosts of Peruvian cuisine, and restaurants in each area of the trip to enjoy a little bit of everything: Ceviche and Tiradito (raw fish), Causa, Pachamanca, Chicha, Rocoto relleno, Guinea Pig... a delicious trip. 1° day : Arrival in Lima

International flight. Airport pick-up and transfer to hotel. Trip briefing and presentation by a team member of PeruEtico. Night at the hotel.

2° day : Lima Gastronomic City Tour

Gastronomic tour of Lima. We go to the colonial center of the city, and as we walk through this historic area we taste typical Peruvian dishes, delicious and rich in gastronomic tradition. We visit the Gastronomy Museum and taste some dishes in a historic restaurant of the capital, traditional and bohemian, famous for its appetizers. Dinner on your own, night at the hotel.

3° day : Lima Gourmet Lunch

Second day to continue to discover Lima's cuisine. Today we sightsee modern Lima in the neighborhoods of Barranco, Chorrilos and Miraflores. We can see, accompanied by our tour guide, the notable contrasts that characterize the Latin American metropolis. Our lunch is seafood based (fresh fish), an emblem of Peruvian cuisine worldwide. We go to one of the best seafood restaurants in the city, for a tasting gourmet lunch that will be hard to forget. Free afternoon, night at the hotel.

4° day : Flight to Arequipa and Free Day in "The White City"
Transfer to the Lima airport for flight to Arequipa. Airport pick-up and transfer to hotel. Free day, night at the hotel.
5° day : In the Kitchen with a Chef from Arequipa
Gastronomic tour of Arequipa. Visit to the San Camilo market where we get to know the key ingredients of Arequipa cuisine. We visit the beautiful historic center: the cloisters and dome of La Compañía de Jesus, the Plaza de Armas and the Santa Catalina convent. We make a series of stops during our walk to taste some typical food products from Arequipa: chocolates, empanadas, cold cheese, etc. The final destination is a restaurant where, by following the instructions of our chef, we learn to make one of the region's typical dishes. Lunch will be the fruit of our labor. Dinner on your own, night at the hotel.
6° day : The Road to Puno
In the morning, we get picked up from the hotel and taken to the bus station for our Arequipa - Puno journey. Pick-up and transfer to hotel. Free afternoon, we recommend resting and eating light, given that Puno is located at an altitude of 3800m above sea level. In the evening, between 19:00 and 20:00, we meet with a PeruEtico team member. Night at the hotel.
7° day : Lake Titicaca

After breakfast, at 07:30 we go to the port to embark on a boat for a tour on Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake. We'll visit the floating islands of the Uros located north of the Puno bay, followed by a stop at Taquile, the lake's largest island. We disembark on the north part of the island and from there we make our way to Huayllano. The families of Huayllano lead us in our discovery of the uses, customs and ancient traditions of the island. A native family will host us and, as their guests, we are invited to wear their typical attire and live like a member of the community for one night. Dinner and night stay with our host family.

8° day : Taquile Island

After breakfast we explore the bay, the beach and a few archeological sites. Walk to the village of Taquile where we enjoy lunch, and then descend to the port to get back to Puno with an estimated arrival at 18:00. Night in Puno.

9° day : En Route to Cusco
We get picked up at 06:15 from the hotel and begin our journey towards the city of Cusco. The comfortable touristic bus (includes heating, air conditioning, chemical bathroom, DVD, on board service, and buffet lunch in Sicuani) will make a series of stops during the journey: Pukara, Rajchi, and Andahuaylillas. Pick-up from the bus station. Night at the hotel.
10° day : Gastronomic City Tour in Cusco
Gastronomic City Tour of Cusco. We begin our activity at the San Pedro market where we come into contact with the tastes, colors and typical aromas of the Andes. This is a place where the life of the city's inhabitants unfolds, most likely one of the best starting points for this Cusco visit. Along the walk we try local delicacies: Causa, empanadas, pastel de papa, etc. For dinner we enjoy a tasting menu at a gourmet restaurant in Cusco, unforgettable!
11° day : Sacsayhuaman, Pisac,

After breakfast, we gather to depart at 09:00 and take a private car to visit the Inca ruins in the surroundings of the city: Sacsayhuaman, Kenko, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay. Afterwards we drive to Pisac, famous for its colorful artisan crafts market and archeological complex, a demonstration of Inca architecture of large walls and towers, all made with polished blocks of stone cut to fit together tightly without mortar. Arrival in Urubamba. Night at the hotel.

12° day : Cusco Cuisine
Cooking lessons. The day begins with a visit to the Urubamba market, where we buy our fresh ingredients. Following the chef's instructions, we learn to make one of the region's typical dishes based on vegetables, legumes and organic herbs of The Sacred Valley. Lunch will be unique, we try the fruits of our labor and it will be delicious!!! In the afternoon we take a car to Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that is still inhabited today and is an extraordinary model of urban planning. In the afternoon we ride the train to Aguas Calientes to begin our Machu Picchu adventure. Night at the hotel.
13° day : Machu Picchu

At dawn we embark on a dream. We take the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and enter the "lost city." For the more adventurous there is the possibility to hike to the summit of Wayna Picchu. In the afternoon we take the train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy, and then the bus to make our way back to Cusco. Night at the hotel.

14° day : The Villages of the Southern Valley
Departure for the Huatanay Valley, south of Cusco city, is scheduled for 09:30. We visit the Inca archeological site of Tipon, and the village of Piñipampa which is known for its artisan production of "tejas", a sweet Peruvian treat. Following lunch we visit the pre Inca ruins of Pikillaqta, dated back to the Wari culture. To finish the tour we go to the village of Huasao to uncover our future through a coca leaf reading. Throughout the day we try typical and famous dishes from this area of the valley: Chicharron (boiled and fried pork), guinea pig, duck, and a variety of breads. Night at the hotel.
15° day : Free Day in Cusco, Myths

Free day to walk around the beautiful city of Cusco. Some must-see sites that we recommend: The Cathedral at the Plaza de Armas; MAP (Museum of Pre-Columbian Art); Qoricancha - The Temple of the Sun; and the quaint neighborhood of San Blas. In the evening we go on a cultural and alternative walking tour. Strolling under the stars through the historic center of the city, we discover a less-known side of Cusco: myths, legends, tales, ghosts and saints. A unique experience to see the true Cusco, iconic city of Peru. Night at the hotel.

16° day : Return to Lima
Morning airport transfer, Cusco - Lima flight. Airport pick-up and transfer to hotel in Lima.
17° day : Return home and/or City Tour of Lima
Airport transfer. International flight. If your flight departs at night, we recommend spending the day on our City Tour, where we take you to discover an authentic Lima.

Trip notes

City to city transfers in comfortable touristic buses: restroom on board, heating, air conditioning, reclining seats. Private tours: Cusco area, Lake Titicaca, Arequipa, Lima. Machu Picchu: Passengers must take to Aguas Calientes luggage for only two days and one night. Due to train restrictions, please only take a backpack or carry-on size luggage that weighs no more than 5kg. The rest of your luggage should be left in storage at the hotel in Cusco or Urubamba. From the moment of arrival in Peru, the passenger is responsible for any additional costs caused by a variation in the program (net cost plus agency rights).
